Torvehallerne - A Copenhagen food market

Torvehallerne's history actually dates back to 1889 when a fruit and vegetable market was opened on Israels Plads, on the site of Torvehallerne, which in English means "market halls".

The fruit and vegetable market closed in 1958, and it was not until 2011 that the people of Copenhagen could enjoy the permanent, new marketplace that stands there today, much to the delight of most.

It is clear how much the city missed and needed a food market – and the cosy trips to the market with family, friends and loved ones that go with it.

A food market which provides inspiration for everyday life, and which brightens the weekend and cosy evening moments.
